A FAMILY HISTORY, FOUNDED IN 1978
Ali and LaRue Chokr first entered the diamond business from a Bradenton, FL flea market booth in 1978. Soon, the couple amassed knowledge and industry connections that would lead them to their first retail venture on Siesta Key. While Mrs. Chokr managed a showroom offering precious gem and gold fashion jewelry and gifts, Mr. Chokr developed his acumen by mining diamonds at the source in Brazil. He completed his education at the prestigious Gemological Institute of America (GIA), and further positioned himself as a wholesale diamond broker and trader through continued travel to Brazil, Antwerp and New York.
Thirty years and three sons later, the Chokr family operates as Diamond Vault. Sons Michael, Rachad and Amir, whose credentials include Princeton, UCF, USF and GIA, are fully involved in the merchandising, development and operation of the company. With a list of clients spanning three decades, and a dedicated, knowledgeable staff of gemologists, jewelers, watchmakers and designers, Diamond Vault continues its tradition as Sarasota’s trusted jeweler.
